A popular family recreational and educational centre in Lagos, Omu Resort, has started rehabilitation of the Asiwaju Bola Tinubu Way, a road located in its host community.
The multi-million naira project, which is part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) on annual intervention project of maintaining the road, is in partnership with the Bogije Branch of the Dredgers Association of Nigeria (DAN).
The management of the conservation centre noted that the poor state of the Asiwaju Bola Tinubu Way makes it difficult for tourists and visitors to access this special area where it has invested billions of naira to build, adding that it has also affected the economic activities of the area.
Commenting on the project, the General Manager of Omu Resort, Ms Moji Ibaze, said: “We have constantly paid year-in-year-out to have the road maintained, we are aware of the fact that we had invested billions in our resort. There was just no point having such a tourist attraction in place with no accessible roads.”
She explained that although the resort had proposed to the Lagos State Government for intervention since it will also benefit residents in the area, none of these has been forthcoming.
“This year, the road had been unmotorable, hence the decision to partner with the Bogije branch of the Dredgers Association of Nigeria and do a thorough overhaul of the road. Needless to say that more work still needs to be done in the area of desilting and drainage flow,” Ms Ibaze added.
The poor state of the axis in Lekki has affected not only motorists but also traders at the Bogije Market, as many of them now have to expose their waste on the roadside due to poor drainage systems.
Located in the rainforest of Bogije, Ibeju Lekki, Omu Resort usually welcomes local and international guests who wish to explore the wonders of nature and engage in fun activities.
These activities range from water slides to speed boats and quad bike rides, epic museums and many others.
