Nigeria’s Acting President, Mr Yemi Osinbajo, has arrived Italy to be part of the ongoing Group of Seven (G7) summit in the European country.
Mr Osinbajo was invited to the meeting alongside leader of few other African countries.
At the summit with the G7 leaders, the Nigerian leader will discuss issue of migrant from Africa risking their lives to seek greener pastures in Europe by going through the Mediterranean Sea.
Yearly, thousands of African migrants die on the sea. They pass through Libya to Italy.
During the meeting, the G7 countries would seek ways to assist African leader make their economy better so as to reduce the number of migrants entering Europe through the dangerous voyage.
The G7 countries include Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the UK and the US, while the EU also has representatives.
Spokesman of the Acting President, Mr Laolu Akande, disclosed on Saturday that Mr Osinbajo is expected to return to Nigeria later today.
“AgP Osinbajo invited to ongoing G7 summit in Italy to represent Nigeria, leaves this morning and is expected back later in the evening today,” Mr Akande wrote on his Twitter page.
