Property owners affected by the construction of an Air Force Base, a General Hospital and an ICT centre at Ajia Inukan in the Ona Ara Local Government of Oyo State have begun to receive compensation from the state government.

The Commissioner for Lands, Housing and Urban Development in Oyo State, Mr Williams Akin-Funmilayo, revealed this on Monday.

At a meeting with the claimants, the Commissioner disclosed that the state government has earmarked the sum of N513.5 million as compensation to them, noting that this was a crucial step towards fostering a good relationship between the government and the residents.

One of the beneficiaries, Mr Adedokun Olalekan, expressed gratitude to Governor Seyi Makinde for his empathy towards the people of Oyo State.

Recall that earlier, the Oyo State government had earlier conducted identification and verification exercises for the property owners along the corridor of the project, after which their properties were valued in preparation for payment of compensation.

The state government recently acquired an expanse of land for developmental projects of construction of the projects.
