The Plateau State House of Assembly has impeached its Speaker, Mr Peter Azi. The number three citizen of the state was removed from office today by his colleagues.
According to information reaching us, Mr Azi was sacked from the position after the lawmaker representing Barkin Ladi constituency, Mr Peter Gyendeng, moved a motion of vote of no confidence against him.
The motion received the massive support of other lawmakers, who voted to remove Mr Azi as their leader.
Specifically, Business Post gathered that the lawmakers were unanimous in passing the motion through a voice vote on Wednesday at the plenary.
Also impeached by the Plateau congressmen was Majority Leader of the Assembly, Mr Henry Yunkwap.
Meanwhile, Mr Azi has been replaced by Mr Joshua Madaki. He was elected by his colleagues to be their new leader. The new Speaker represents Jos East constituency at the Plateau State House of Assembly.
Also elected is the lawmaker representing Mikang constituency, Mr Nanlong Daniel, who is now the new Majority Leader of the Assembly.
