The Kano State House of Assembly was on Monday morning sealed up by some heavily armed policemen.
This followed plans by some lawmakers in the state Assembly to impeach their Speaker, Mr Yusuf Abdullahi Ata, as well as some principal officers of the state legislative arm.
Information reaching us disclosed that security operatives were sent to the Assembly as early as 2am on Monday to forestall any breakdown of law and order and prevent members from gaining access into the premises.
It was gathered that the Speaker had ordered for suspension of all activities in the House until after Eid-El Kabir festivity.
Spokesman of the Kano Police Command, Mr Magaji Musa Majia, who confirmed deployment of police to the Assembly, explained that, “We deployed our men to the Assembly to ensure that nobody break law and order.”
He added that, “We need peace in the state and therefore we will not allow anybody to temper with existing peace and harmony being enjoyed by the people in the state.”
