A new Yellow Fever vaccination card for Nigeria has been approved by the Federal Executive Council (FEC) on Wednesday.
The new card will have security features that would make it very difficult to fake, Minister of Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole, assures.
Addressing State House correspondent yesterday after the weekly meeting in Abuja presided over by the Acting President, Mr Yemi Osinbajo, the Minister said the new Yellow Fever vaccination card would soon be launched for use.
According to him, one of the challenges of the present card being issued was that it could be faked and issued by anyone, but emphasised that with the new one, it would be difficult to fake.
He said, “With this new card, you cannot fake the yellow card. Using a card reader, we can also document your vaccination status. So, we know whether you have been genuinely vaccinated or not.”
The Yellow Fever vaccination card also known as the International Certificate of Vaccination or Prophylaxis (ICVP) is a travel document mainly required for proof of vaccination when going to or from countries that are at risk for Yellow Fever.
