In its bid to imbibe cleanliness and hygiene in Oyo State, Multi Pro Limited, makers of Hypo disinfectant, has partnered the Oyo State government in a ‘team up to clean up’ exercise in some parts of the state.

The aim of the project with the theme ‘Team up to Clean up’ is to sensitise the people on the need to maintain environmental hygiene so as to prevent disease-ridden environments.

The cleaning exercise was carried at Darlington Street, Mokola Ibadan, Oyo State.

Brand Manager of Hypo, Jadesola Surakat, revealed that beyond the use of Hypo for clothes, it can also serve as a disinfectant, which could help prevent breeding of insects and kill diseases causing organisms.

“Cleaning is not a choice; it is an essential for anybody that wants to stay healthy. If we have a cleaner environment, there is a good chance that most of the avoidable diseases tormenting us like malaria, typhoid, dysentery, Ebola would be far away.

“It doesn’t end here; we intend to sustain this practice in Oyo State. It’s important to stress that hypo isn’t just a bleaching agent for white cloths, it is also a disinfectant that can be used to sterilise and eliminate disease causing organisms in our surrounding and that is why we have come to this community to promote hygiene,”

Representative of the Ministry of Environment, Oyerinde Emiola, lauded the initiative from Hypo, stating that the Oyo State government has been doing everything possible towards a disease-free environment.

“This exercise will go a long way to sensitise people on inculcating the habit of cleanliness. The moment we have a cleaner environment, it will be almost impossible for mosquitoes and other disease causing organisms to have a breeding place. We are happy with Hypo’s partnership towards having a cleaner environment and we hope this will be a continuous exercise.”

Speaking on the success of the exercise, a resident, Ahmed Yinusa, said: “We’re grateful to Hypo for choosing our environment to kick off this team up to clean up, the more we clean, the lesser the chances of falling ill. You can see how happy the people are about this.”
