The 80th birthday celebration of renowned industrialist and business mogul, Aare Rasaq Okoya, at his panache Oluwanishola Estate over a week ago, was not doubt one of the events to beat in a long time.
The party was attended by those who matter most in the Nigerian society, including Nigeria’s Vice President, Mr Yemi Osinbajo; former President Olusegun Obasanjo; former Governor of Lagos, Mr Bola Tinubu; Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu; Governor of Ogun State, Mr Dapo Abiodun, his predecessor, Mr Ibikunle Amosun; and Africa’s richest man, Mr Aliko Dangote.
Also registering their presence at the event were former Governor of Osun State, Mr Olagunsoye Oyinlola; former Secretary General of Commonwealth, Mr Emeka Anyaoku; Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunnusi; Chairman of Honeywell, Mr Oba Otudeko; former Governor of Oyo State, Mr Alao Akala; former Governor of Ekiti State and present Minister of Trade and Investment, Mr Niyi Adebayo; Minister of Information and Culture, Mr Lai Mohammed; former Governor of Delta State, Mr James Onanefe Ibori; amongst several others too numerous to mention.
During the event, Mr Osinbajo presided over cutting of the cake and he prayed God to grant Mr Okoya the grace to clock 100 in good health.
The celebrant, who was flanked by his family led by his wife, Mrs Sade Okoya, could not hide his joy when he saw the calibre of people who trooped out to honour him on that special day.
Beejay Sax performed to entertain the guests, while Gbenga Adeyinka and his colleague in the comedy industry, Tee-A, ensured that there was no dull moment.
Veterans in the music industry, K1 De Ultimate, Ebenezer Obey, King Sunny Ade, Haruna Ishola and Sir Shina Petters thrilled the guests, while pop artiste, Davido, made most people present sing along with him.
