Director-General of the Lagos State Records and Archives Bureau (LASRAB), Mr Biodun Onayele led a delegation of his management team on a courtesy visit to Lagos State Films and Video Censors Board (LSFVCB) as part of efforts to sensitize Ministries, Agencies and Departments on the statutory functions of the bureau.
Speaking during the visit, the Director-General stated that LASRAB is the societal memory for Lagos State and has the statutory responsibility of regulating, preserving and disseminating accurate records on all State’s MDAs.
According to him, “LASRAB performs the dual roles of being a backup for Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) as well as a ‘one stop shop’ for persons, groups and organisations needing information on Lagos State.”
Responding, the Executive Secretary, Lagos State Films and Video Censors Board (LSFVCB), Mr Dele Balogun expressed gratitude to the Director General and his team for the visit, explaining that board was established to censor films produced in Nigeria in conjunction with the National Film & Video Censors Board (NFVCB), issue license to Cinemas and register all film practitioners in the State among others.
He promised to henceforth avail the bureau of all the information and documents relating to the activities of the Board for preservation and public consultation.
The Director General of LASRAB later presented the Executive Secretary with the Bureau’s brochure and extant circulars directing all MDAs to involve LASRAB in their activities and also deposit (two) copies of all their publications (print & electronics) with the Bureau.
