Controversial singer, Mr Azeez Fashola, otherwise known as Naira Marley, has turned himself in to the police after arriving in Nigeria from abroad.
He is being questioned over the death of one of his former signees, Mr Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad.
Mohbad died in September 2023, and it was speculated that his demise was influenced by his former boss, Naira Marley, because of an alleged disagreement between them.
Naira Marley claimed he was never directly or indirectly involved in the death of the singer also known as Imole, promising to assist the police to get to the root of the matter.
On Wednesday, he announced his arrival to the country to help the police in its investigation.
“I’d like to share that I’ve just arrived back in Lagos, Nigeria to assist the authorities with the ongoing investigation. It’s important I do my part for Imole. I’ll be meeting with the police with hopes for the truth to be uncovered and for justice to prevail,” Naira Marley said.
Confirming this, the spokesman for the Lagos Command of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), Mr Benjamin Hundeyin, said the musician, who owns Marlian Music, was in its custody.
“Azeez Fashola aka Naira Marley has been taken into custody for interrogation and other investigation activities,” a message from Mr Hundeyin stated.
Recall that a few days ago, an associate of Naira Marley, Sam Larry, was questioned over the same issue.
