Jorginho is a Gunner After His Transfer From Chelsea in January Transfer Window

Jorginho

After Mohamed Elneny was ruled out with a “serious” injury and Albert Sambi Lokonga was loaned to Crystal Palace, Arsenal needed further midfield help. However, Arsenal was unable to acquire Brighton’s Moises Caicedo.

Who had Jorginho’s move to Arsenal on their bingo card on the final day of the transfer window? The Gunners had been attempting to pry Moises Caicedo away from Brighton, but Chelsea’s acquisition of the playmaker demonstrated that they had given up, at least for the time being, as fans explore sports betting.

The January transfer window is over. If Arsenal wants to make history and become significant in the Premier League by winning it, they will have to depend on their bunch of players.

They are the best-performing and most consistent squad this season and lead the league by five points with one game remaining. However, the final few days were a complete shambles. In the end, Mikel Arteta did receive what he desired.

Jorginho was acquired from Chelsea on the last day of the transfer window for £12 million by Arsenal. This improves their midfield as they prepare to compete for the title.

The 31-year-old Italian midfielder has agreed to a contract for 18 months, with an additional year potential.

Arsenal Lands Jorginho on Deadline Day

The Italian international arrived from Chelsea on the final day of the transfer window to offer them more alternatives in the middle of the field for the second half of the season and to add more experience to our youthful squad.

After losing Mohamed Elneny to a knee injury, the Premier League’s top team has been searching for midfield reinforcements. After two unsuccessful Caicedo offers, they launched a play for Jorginho.

The discussions with Chelsea were swift, and it was reported less than three hours before the deadline that the Italy international, whose contract was up at the end of the season, would be joining Arsenal. The charge is £10 million, with the remainder paid as further compensation.

The 31-year-old joined Chelsea in 2018. He was a member of the teams that won the Champions League and Europa League in 2021 and 2019, respectively.

He was also an integral component of Italy’s Euro 2020 victory.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta noted on the club’s website that Jorginho is a cerebral midfielder with good leadership qualities and a wealth of Premier League and international experience. Jorginho has received numerous accolades throughout his career, but he remains hungry and eager to contribute here.

The Blues are receiving compensation for a player who could have departed for free in the summer. Arsenal believes that Jorginho’s experience will help them win the championship.

Arteta Finally Gets Him

Arsenal attempted to acquire Jorginho from Chelsea in the summer of 2020, immediately after he won the Champions League with the Blues and a year before he won the European Championships with Italy.

In 2018, when Manchester City attempted to recruit Jorginho, Arteta was also an assistant coach. However, Jorginho opted to join Maurizio Sarri at Chelsea instead.

“Off the pitch, Jorginho is a kind and humorous individual. He departs Chelsea with 213 games and four winners’ trophies, but he is most happy of the 2021 Champions League victory, in which he played a significant role”, according to Chelsea. “Good luck in the future, Jorgi!”

Jorginho stated on Arteta: “He was a big issue because I knew he attempted to get me in the past, but it didn’t work out for reasons other than what I want.

I am enthusiastic about this new challenge and cannot wait to take the field! Everything happened so quickly. I couldn’t believe it, but I seized this incredible opportunity.”

“Jorginho is a tenacious professional with a wealth of experience who contributes quality and expertise to our club,” stated Edu, the sports director. “He is a player who complements our style of play, and he joins us at a crucial time when he can assist us in a key position. Jorginho is now with Arsenal.”

The £12 million could prove to be a wise investment, despite going against what the Gunners have done in the past.

Everything has been prepared for the long term, but it is a good idea to bring in experienced players like Jorginho and Leandro Trossard as soon as possible. The benefits of recruiting winners cannot be overstated, and Jorginho is a winner who has won numerous trophies with Chelsea.

Roberto De Zerbi Joins Tottenham as New Head Coach

Roberto De Zerbi

By Dipo Olowookere

Italian professional manager and former player, Roberto De Zerbi, has returned to England to serve as the new Head Coach of Tottenham Hotspur’s football team.

He will fight to ensure the London team does not play in the Championship next season, as the team currently sits one point from relegation.

The former Brighton manager is taking over from Igor Tudor, who parted ways with Tottenham a few days ago.

In a statement, Spurs said the appointment of De Zerbi is subject to a work permit.

The club’s Sporting Director, Mr Johan Lange, said, “Roberto was our number one target for the summer and we are very pleased to be able to bring him in now.

“He is one of the most creative and forward-thinking coaches in world football, and brings with him a wealth of experience at the highest level, including in the Premier League.”

Reacting to his choice for the job, De Zerbi said, “I am delighted to be joining this fantastic football club, which is one of the biggest and most prestigious in the world.

“In all my discussions with the club’s leadership, their ambition for the future has been clear – to build a team capable of reaching great achievements, and to do that playing a style of football that excites and inspires our supporters. I am here because I believe in that ambition and have signed a long-term contract to give everything to deliver it.

“Our short-term priority is to climb the Premier League table, which will be the complete focus until the final whistle of the last game of the season. I’m looking forward to getting out on the training pitch and working with these players to achieve that.”

De Zerbi earned almost 300 appearances in his playing career across 15 years. He began coaching in his native Italy and in June 2018, joined Serie A side Sassuolo, earning recognition for his exciting, attack-minded and possession-based approach.

He took charge of Shakhtar Donetsk in May 2021, leading them to the UEFA Champions League group stage and the Ukrainian Super Cup – his first piece of silverware as a coach.

Heading to East Sussex to join Brighton & Hove Albion in September 2022, De Zerbi helped secure the Seagulls’ highest-ever Premier League finish in his debut season, earning European qualification for the first time in the club’s history.

In his most recent role at Marseille, the Ligue 1 side finished as runners-up in 2024/25, earning a spot in the UEFA Champions League.
