Nigeria defeated Algeria on Saturday evening in a 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier match played at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
The newly rejuvenated Chelsea star, Victor Moses, inspired the Super Eagles win against the Desert Warriors.
He scored a brace during the Saturday’s match, while his teammate at Chelsea, Mikel Obi, who is yet to find the favour of Coach Antonio Conte, scored a goal to end the match at 3-1.
Moses first found the back of the Algerian net in the 25th minute, while Mikel, the Eagles captain, netted Nigeria’s second goal in the 42nd minute.
But the visitors reduced the deficit by a goal when they scored via Bentaleb in the 67th minute.
However, no one could stop the blazing Moses, who restored Nigeria’s two-goal lead in the 92nd minute.
With the win, Nigeria now tops the group with six points, while Cameroon trails with only two points.
Zambia is third in the group with a point, while Algeria is rooted in fourth position with also one point.
The four teams are vying for the group’s sole ticket to the World Cup in Russia in 2018.
