A report has disclosed that play-to-earn (P2E) gaming adoption in Nigeria is expected to reach 33 per cent at the end of 2022, double the present state.
In the Finder’s NFT Gaming Adoption Report, it was revealed that 16.05 per cent of Nigerian internet users have used P2E gaming platforms this year, putting the country at number 9 in the world. India has the most gamers at 34 per cent, followed by Hong Kong at 29 per cent, the United Arab Emirates in third at 27 per cent and the Philippines in fifth at 25 per cent.
But in Africa, Nigeria topped the chart and was trailed by South Africa in number 17 at 10.20 per cent.
Finder said in the report that it polled 43,312 people across 26 countries via Google surveys in March 2022, with 2,084 respondents being in Nigeria. It was discovered through the research that an additional 17 per cent of Nigerian internet will use played-to-earn before the end of the year.
“Nigeria is set to experience the biggest jump in P2E NFT gaming adoption of any country included in the study, followed by Peru (16%) and The Philippines (14%).
“Globally adoption is set to increase from just 14% to 24%. While men are more likely to have played-to-earn, similar numbers of men and women are looking to get involved over the next 12 months,” Finder’s cryptocurrency editor, Mr Keegan Francis, said.
He further said gamers who can’t afford the entry cost to play might want to consider joining a guild.
“Guilds allow players, known as scholars, to play a game like Axie Infinity for free by lending you the required NFTs and you are then usually entitled to a share of the earnings while the remainder goes to the guild,” he added.
