All Set For 2016 Med-View/NUJ Media Games

Arrangements have been concluded for the 2016 edition of the Med-View/NUJ Media Games, which commences from Monday, October 24 to Saturday, October 29 at the Legacy Pitch of the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.

Addressing a press conference on Thursday in Lagos, the state chapter chairman of NUJ, Comrade Deji Elumoye, thanked the management of Med-View Airline for throwing its weight behind the tournament.

Mr Elumoye assured the sponsor of the event positive backing of the media.

Executive Director of Med-View Airline, Mr Naalah Isaq, who was at the briefing held at the auditorium of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), noted that the management was pleased to sponsor the Games despite the economic situation in the country.

“Our relationship with the Lagos Council of the NUJ is a cordial one and we intend to keep the relationship, hence our decision to sponsor the Games for the third year running.

“We’ve also resolved to continue with the sponsorship of the Games as long as the relationship keeps going,” Mr Isaq said.

Among the events billed for the Games are athletics; table tennis; draught; scrabble; ayo; tug-of-war and football (5-Aside).

A highlight of the day was the draw ceremony of the football event where 16 media houses have registered to participate.

Defending champions, Lagos Information, The Nation; The Detective and Voice of Nigeria are in Group A while The Sun; Vanguard’ The Champion and New Telegraph are in Group B.

In Group C are Lagos Television; Correspondents; New Nigeria and Business Plus while Group D has Daar Communications; Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria; Federal Information and The Source.
