The Minister of Works and Housing, Mr Babatunde Fashola, has announced the completion of the second Niger Bridge in Anambra State.
He made the announcement on Wednesday at the unveiling of the administration’s scorecard series (2015-2023) at the National Press Centre, Radio House, Abuja.
“I can confirm that the second Niger Bridge itself is finished. People can walk through the bridge now unimpeded,” the Minister disclosed today.
However, he noted that, “What remains is the 4km link road on the Asaba side and 2km out of the 7km link road at the Onitsha end.”
The second Niger Bridge had been a project the past administrations have been unable to complete. The current Niger Bridge is the only entry into the eastern part of the country from the southwest.
During the December rush period, many motorists get trapped in traffic gridlock, but it is believed that the new bridge would bring succour to motorists and passengers.
