Investors at NASD Exchange Lose N4.18bn in Week 46

The 46th week of trading in 2022 at the NASD Over-the-Counter (OTC) Securities Exchange was bearish as the bourse depreciated week-on-week by 0.45 per cent.

This resulted in the N4.18 billion loss reported by investors at NASD Exchange in the five-day trading week, with the total value of the market declining to N935.07 trillion from N939.25 billion in Week 45.

In the same vein, the NASD securities index went down by 3.19 points to close at 711.61 points, in contrast to the 714.80 points achieved in the preceding week.

The negative outcome for the week came despite the price gainers outweighing the price losers, as the shares of 11 Plc depleted by 8.8 per cent to N155.00 per unit from N170.00 per unit.

The trio of UBN Property Plc, FrieslandCampina Wamco Nigeria Plc, and NASD Plc appreciated in the week.

UBN Property gained 1.02 per cent to close at 99 Kobo per share versus 98 Kobo per share of the previous week, FrieslandCampina Wamco Nigeria added 0.9 per cent to sell at N67.00 per unit compared with N66.42 per unit of the previous week, while NASD Plc rose by 0.5 per cent to N14.79 per share from N14.72 per share.

In the week, there was a 34.8 per cent decrease in the trading value to to N103.9 million from N159.5 million, the trading volume fell by 70.9 per cent to 68.7 million units from 236.3 million units, while the number of trades rose by 2.6 per cent to 40 deals from 39 deals.

The most traded stock for the week was UBN Property Plc with the sale of 68.3 million units, followed by FrieslandCampina Wamco Nigeria Plc with 316,640 million units, 11 Plc with 90,963 units, NASD Plc with 48,000 units, and Food Concepts Plc with 10,500 units.

also, the most traded stock by value for the week was UBN Property Plc with N67.6 million, FrieslandCampina Wamco Nigeria Plc traded N21.3 million, 11 Plc traded N14.1 million, NASD Plc exchanged N710,350, and Niger Delta Exploration and Production (NDEP) Plc traded N196,091.

On a year-to-date basis, a total of 3.8 billion units worth N27.48 billion have been traded in 2,416 deals.
