Rivers State Governor, Mr Siminalayi Fubara, has appeared before the Rivers State House of Assembly to present the 2024 appropriation bill of the state.
He was accompanied on Wednesday by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr Tammy Danagogo; the Commissioner for Finance, Isaac Kamalu’ the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Joseph Johnson,z, and other members of his cabinet.
Mr Fubara arrived at the state parliament led by the Speaker, Mr Edison Ehie, around 9:00 am.
Recall that at an executive council meeting on Tuesday, N800 billion was approved for the 2024 fiscal year. The appropriation bill was christened Budget of Renewed Hope, Consolidation, and Continuity for the 2024 fiscal year.
On Wednesday, the state government pulled down the assembly complex after it promised to renovate the building after a fire disaster a few weeks ago. The Rivers State House of Assembly has two factions.
The group led by Mr Ehie has four members, while the one led by Mr Martin Amaewhule has 27 members, who decamped from the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Monday.
