In the 19th week of trading in 2024, the NASD Over-the-Counter (OTC) Securities Exchange extended its presence in the green territory for another week after appreciating by 7.26 per cent on a week-on-week basis.

As a result of the stellar performance, investors had a reason to smile after their portfolios jumped by N109 billion, leaving the market capitalisation higher at N1.608 trillion compared with the N1.499 trillion achieved in Week 18.

Similarly, the NASD Unlisted Security Index (NSI) increased by 79.48 points during the five-day trading week to 1,174.13 points from the 1,094.65 points posted a week earlier.

Trading data showed a surge in the total volume of transactions by 21,809 per cent to 63.3 million units from the 0.3 million units achieved in the previous week, the total value of trades during the week jumped by 760.1 per cent to N2.07 billion from N240.8 million, and the number of trades leapt by 333.3 per cent to 182 deals from 42 deals.

Business Post reports that the alternative stock market ended the week with three price gainers and two price losers led by FrieslandCampina Wamco Nigeria Plc, which shed 10.9 per cent to end at N50.21 per unit versus the previous week’s N56.43 per unit, and Geo-Fluids Plc, which lost 8.5 per cent to settle at N2.05 per share versus N2.24 per share.

Afriland Properties Plc gained 30.9 per cent last week to close at N14.66 per share versus N11.20 per share, Aradel Holding Plc appreciated by 24.2 per cent to N2,732.36 per unit from N2,200.00 per unit, and Newrest Asl Plc expanded by 7.5 per cent to N21.50 per share versus N20.00 per share.

Central Securities Clearing System (CSCS) Plc was the most traded stock by volume last week with 52.6 million units, Geo-Fluids Plc traded 10.1 million units, Aradel Holdings Plc exchanged 0.334 million units, Afriland Properties transacted 0.19 million units, and FrieslandCampina Wamco Plc traded 0.14 million units.

CSCS Plc was also the most active stock by value with N1.1 billion, Aradel Holdings Plc followed with N910 million, Geo-Fluids Plc posted N210 million,  FrieslandCampina Wamco Plc recorded N7.0 million then Afriland Plc raked in N3.0 million.
