Nigerian Breweries Commissions Upgraded Ota Brewery

The newly upgraded factory of the Nigerian Breweries Plc located in Ota, Ogun State, has been commissioned.

At the ceremony on Wednesday, Chairman of the company, Mr Kola Jamodu, disclosed that several millions of Naira was used for the upgrade.

At the event, attended by the state Governor, Mr Ibikunle Amosun; former Nigeria’s President Olusegun Obasanjo; and other dignitaries, the firm’s Chairman further said the upgrade was part of its strategic plan to consolidate its leadership position in the industry.

According to him, it is part of Nigerian Breweries’ contribution to the economic development of Ogun State.

Nigerian Breweries has another brewery in Ijebu Ode, also in Ogun State.

Parts of the facilities at the Ota factory are the new PET line, a Water Treatment Plant and a Waste Water Treatment Plant, among 21 others.

Mr Jamodu said for instance, the multi-billion Naira PET line boasts the best technology in the HEINEKEN world. He said the modern Water Treatment Plant was constructed to ensure the continued excellent quality of the company’s brands while the Waste Water Treatment Plant further contributes to the success of its sustainability agenda of “Brewing a Better World”.

“These investments, totaling over N11b stand out as a testimony to our corporate philosophy of winning with Nigeria and they reflect our company’s bold confidence in Ogun State and Nigeria as an investment destination,” Mr Jamodu said.

Also speaking at the occasion, the Ogun State Governor, Mr Ibikunle Amosun, congratulated the company on the successful upgrade of the brewery which he described as an enviable step capable of facilitating a self-dependent economy.
