Over 15 million tonnes of rice shipments have been delivered to major ports of West Africa by DUCAT Maritime, a leader in global maritime logistics.

This milestone, according to the company in a statement shared with Business Post, underscores its pivotal role in providing food security and economic stability across one of the world’s most dynamic regions.

It was disclosed that since its establishment in 2016, DUCAT Maritime has shipped this staple food in the region to the Benin Republic, Côte d’Ivoire and Togo.

This has been made possible by consistently utilising a chartered fleet, ranging from handysize to ultramax vessels, to meet the diverse demands of the global food market.

The firm’s innovative approach includes comprehensive in-port services that enhance efficiency and minimise cargo damage, ensuring that essential commodities, such as rice, are delivered safely and on time.

“Our achievement of shipping over 15 million tonnes of rice to West Africa is more than a milestone; it represents our strong commitment to supporting the communities and economies we serve.

“The logistical exercise is technically complex and has directly contributed to creating thousands of local jobs in and around ports at Cotonou, Abidjan, and Lomé.

“We are delighted that there is an economic benefit to those people we rely on to help deliver such a critical commodity as we want to be a partner to the communities we proudly serve.

“This accomplishment is a reflection of the hard work and dedication of our team, the support of the workforce on the ground in the West African markets, and it reinforces our resolve to continue providing reliable and efficient logistical solutions,” the founder of DUCAT Maritime, Mr Adrian Beciri, stated.

In Côte d’Ivoire, DUCAT Maritime’s cargo is handled by logistics and shipping agency Société Internationale de Logistique & Shipping (SILS) and its chief executive, Mr Joel Kouadio, said: “Working in Côte d’Ivoire, I see first-hand how every DUCAT Maritime shipment boosts our local job market.

“It is rewarding to manage these operations that not only ensure a stable food supply but also support the wider region’s economy. We value DUCAT’s commitment to our community and the positive impact it continues to have across the region.”

Since 2016, DUCAT Maritime has been at the forefront of shipping and logistics, focusing on the needs of developing economies.
