Tinubu Re-Appoints Dembos, Ali as Heads of NTA, NAN

President Bola Tinubu has renewed the appointments of Mr Abdulhamid Dembos as Director-General of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) and Mr Ali Mohammed Ali as Managing Director of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) for another three years.

This was disclosed by Mr Bayo Onanuga, the President’s spokesperson, noting that the second term of both chief executives will commence on October 20, 2026, following the expiration of their initial three-year tenure.

President Tinubu first appointed Mr Dembos and Mr Ali to head the NTA and NAN, respectively, on October 20, 2023.

Mr Dembos, an indigene of Yola, Adamawa State, previously served as the National President of the Radio, Television, Theatre and Art Workers Union (RATTAWU).

He also served as Executive Director of Marketing at the NTA after retiring from the organisation in 2017.

Mr Dembos began his career with the NTA as an announcer at its Kaduna station after completing his National Youth Service Corps programme in 1989. He subsequently rose through the ranks, serving as General Manager of NTA Lokoja and NTA Kano at different times.

Mr Ali, a veteran journalist and media manager with more than three decades of experience, holds a first degree in English from Bayero University, Kano; a graduate degree in International Affairs from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria; and a Postgraduate Diploma in Mass Communications from Bayero University.

Mr Onanuga said President Tinubu had urged both executives to justify the confidence reposed in them by sustaining their commitment to the mandates of their respective organisations and advancing the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
