Tears flowed freely from the cheeks of mourners in Ilaro, Ogun State, when the remains of veteran Nigerian actor, Taiwo Babatunde Hassan, well-known as Ogogo, were laid to rest.

Several movie practitioners in Nigeria were present at the burial ceremony held for the 66-year-old actor on Monday, August 24, 2026.

Ogogo breathed his last on Sunday, August 23, 2026, after a battle with Stage 4 cancer.

The funeral rites started with a prayer session (Janazah) by 10:00 am at the Asade Agunloye Pavilion Ground, Ilaro, as earlier announced by the Chief Imam of the town.

This was followed by a special lying-in-state at the Pavilion Ground, where his body was wrapped in white Islamic burial cloths before he was carried to his final resting place and buried at exactly 10:50 am.

In his sermon today, the Chief Imam of Ilaro spoke deeply about the shortness of human life and urged everyone present to live a holy life. He praised the deceased for being a very religious man who openly prioritised his faith even while working on movie sets.

On his part, one of the late actor’s colleagues, Prince Jide Kosoko, thanked members of the public, the fans, and the Ogun State government for the massive outpouring of love and support.
