Four vessels carrying aviation fuel and another vessel laden with crude oil are among 26 vessels expected to arrive at Lagos ports by September 13, 2026, according to the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA).

The NPA disclosed this in its latest Daily Shipping Position, indicating sustained activity across the Lagos port complex, with petroleum products accounting for a significant portion of the expected arrivals.

The four vessels carrying aviation fuel are expected to deliver Jet A1 supplies to the country, while another vessel will bring crude oil. Petrol is also among the petroleum products expected at the ports during the period.

The incoming vessels are scheduled to operate across the Lekki Deep Sea Port, Apapa Port and Tin Can Island Port.

Adequate Jet A1 supply is also critical to maintaining uninterrupted flight operations, as disruptions in availability can increase airlines’ operating expenses and put further pressure on airfares.

The crude oil vessel, meanwhile, is expected to add to activity around Nigeria’s petroleum supply chain, particularly for the 700,000 barrels per day Dangote Refinery, which has to supplement inadequate local crude supply with imported crude from other countries.

The NPA said 12 of the 26 vessels expected to arrive would carry containerised cargoes, while the remaining vessels would bring commodities including crude oil, petrol, sugar and bulk salt.

Meanwhile, 13 vessels and tanker vessels have already arrived at the Lagos ports and are awaiting berthing. Their consignments include petrol, crude oil, diesel, bulk urea, fertiliser and bulk wheat.

The authority also said 19 vessels were currently engaged in cargo discharge operations, handling consignments including petrol, bulk gas, containers, bulk urea and general cargo.

The expected crude oil and aviation fuel shipments add to activity in Nigeria’s petroleum supply chain, with Jet A1 supplies particularly important to sustaining aviation operations and crude oil remaining a key commodity in the country’s energy trade.
