Technology company Golvia has launched a social media platform designed to help African content creators, users and small businesses monetise their online activities through digital commerce, virtual gifting and other income-generating features.

The platform, unveiled on August 11, 2026, combines social networking, identity verification, creator monetisation and cross-border commerce in a single digital ecosystem.

Founder and chief executive of Golvia, Mr Izuchukwu Nwankpa, said the platform was developed to address the limited financial returns creators and businesses often receive from their activities on conventional social media platforms.

He said African creators and small businesses generate significant value online but face challenges converting their audiences and content into sustainable income.

“We built Golvia because people deserve more than just superficial likes for their time and creativity. Africa’s digital economy is booming, yet talent and small businesses still face huge barriers in monetising content and reaching cross-border audiences. Golvia bridges that gap by putting monetisation, verified trust, and digital trade into one unified ecosystem.”

According to him, Golvia seeks to bridge the gap by providing tools that allow users to earn from their content, connect with brands and reach customers across international markets.

Unlike conventional social media platforms, which largely rely on advertising revenue, Golvia offers features including live streaming, virtual gifts, monetisation tasks, in-app messaging, group chats and integrated commerce tools.

Mr Nwankpa said creators could generate revenue through virtual gifts received during live broadcasts, participate in earning tasks and establish partnerships with brands through the platform.

He added that small businesses could use the platform as a digital storefront to promote and sell their products locally and internationally.

“We’ve built multiple revenue streams right into the platform’s DNA. Creators can go live and earn virtual gifts that translate into real-world revenue, participate in monetisation tasks, or partner directly with brands through integrated social commerce tools. For small businesses, Golvia acts as a storefront and targeted ad hub, enabling them to market products locally and globally without needing complex setups,” he said.

The platform also offers an optional identity verification system aimed at reducing fraudulent accounts and improving trust among users, creators and businesses.

Golvia said it had attracted verified users across 14 countries since its launch, including Nigeria, Ghana, Lesotho, Kenya, South Africa, the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Italy, Germany, India and Australia.

The company said its focus remained on expanding opportunities for African creators and businesses to access international audiences through live-streaming, digital gifting and cross-border commerce.

It added that the platform was open to new registrations as it continued rolling out its features across different markets.
