Shuttlers Launches Door-to-Door Shared Car Service in Lagos

Shuttlers, a technology-enabled shared mobility platform, has launched Shuttlers Pod, a scheduled door-to-door car service designed to provide Lagos commuters with a more affordable alternative to conventional ride-hailing.

The new service is targeted at commuters travelling to work, events and other destinations across Lagos. It matches passengers travelling along similar routes on a single scheduled trip, with each vehicle carrying between three and four riders and dropping passengers at their exact destinations.

The launch comes as commuters begin to adjust to changes in the city’s ride-hailing market following Uber’s exit from Nigeria.

Passengers can also book an entire vehicle privately. Each Pod trip comes with a named driver, referred to as a “Pilot,” a fixed fare and a guaranteed pickup, eliminating surge pricing and roadside fare negotiations.

According to Shuttlers, the service adapts its existing scheduled bus model to private vehicles by replacing traditional bus stops with door-to-door pickups and drop-offs.

The company said Pod trips cost approximately 50 per cent less than typical ride-hailing fares, with the savings driven by advance booking and fixed pricing.

Speaking on the launch, Shuttlers’ chief executive and co-Founder, Ms Damilola Olokesusi, said the service was developed in response to rising living costs and the need for more affordable transportation options.

“Nigeria’s cost of living is rising faster than incomes. With that reality, the smartest way to move people is through shared mobility,” Ms Olokesusi said.

He added that Shuttlers had spent the past decade building reliable and affordable scheduled shared transportation, describing Pod as an extension of that model into private and shared trips.

“Shuttlers Pod brings that same thinking to scheduled private and shared trips that are safe, premium and affordable, from your doorstep to exactly where you need to be,” she said.

Shuttlers Pod complements the company’s existing mobility offerings, including Shuttlers Daily, a scheduled shared commute service for professionals; Shuttlers for Business, which provides employee transportation and live trip tracking; Shuttlers Rental, which offers vehicle rentals; and Shuttlers EventGo, a shared transportation service for events.

Founded in 2016, Shuttlers said it has surpassed 10 million completed journeys and become Nigeria’s first private mobility operator to be listed on Google Maps Transit.

The company currently records more than 600,000 monthly trips across more than 1,000 itineraries and 400 routes, operating over 430 buses daily across Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt.

It also provides daily commute services to more than 50,000 professionals and reports a 99 per cent trip completion rate since its launch.
