Heritage Bank has reacted to news report that one Mr Robert Mbonu, linked with the alleged diversion of funds from the London and Paris Club refund, was once a Managing Director of the financial institution.
In a statement made available to Business Post on Tuesday night in Lagos, Heritage Bank stressed that Mr Mbonu was at no time its Managing Director.
It noted in the statement that he was only an Executive Director of Heritage Bank, who “amicably resigned from the bank in 2015 to pursue other endeavours.”
“We wish to make it clear that Heritage Bank disproves the antics of such bloggers, who seem determined to discredit Heritage Bank, even to the extent of risking being seen clearly as careless and unprofessional.
“We consider it our duty to continue to provide our stakeholders with accurate information where it concerns us, as your confidence and support is of utmost importance to us,” the bank said in the statement.
On Tuesday, March 28, 2017, it was reported in the media that an investigation launched by the EFCC linked Mr Mbonu and others, including the Senate President, Mr Bukola Saraki, with the diversion of funds from the London and Paris Club refund.
