Acting President, Mr Yemi Osinbajo, made this known on Thursday during a visit to Akwa Ibom State as part of his tour of Niger Delta states.

According to the Acting President, the Federal Government is seriously committed to the realization of the project because of its importance to the country’s growth and economy.

Mr Osinbajo noted that already, a provision for the Ibaka port has been made in the 2017 budget, which is currently before the National Assembly.

He stated in Uyo that the sum of N1 billion has been earmarked for the realisation of the laudable project.

“Indeed, as a matter of fact, in the 2017 budget, there is already a provision for the Ibaka port. There is already N1billion provision,” the Acting President said.

“It is a matter we take seriously to partner with the Akwa Ibom State government,” he said further.

Mr Osinbajo urged state governments in the region to attract private investments in their domain in order to create employment opportunities for the youths. He said this will help to reduce the rate of militancy in the area.
