NAFDAC Orders NBC to Recall Eva Water in Market

The Nigerian Bottling Company (NBC) Limited has been directed to commence the recall of some Eva premium table Water 75cl already in the market as a result of some particles found in the product.

In a Twitter post via its official handle, the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) said the ones affected were those produced between May 22 and 23, 2019 at the Ibadan, Oyo State factory of the company.

According to NAFDAC, some foreign objects were found in the Eva premium table Water 75cl, which later turn the water green.

In a bid to ensure safety of its consumers, NBC informed the agency of the development and said it was recalling the product, while an investigation into the cause of it is conducted by NAFDAC.

“NAFDAC has directed Nigerian Bottling Company Limited to recall Eva Premium Table Water 75cl as a precautionary step pending investigation.

“The company voluntarily reported on June 20, 2019, a change in colour of the product from colourless to light green and presence of particles in two lots. The affected Eva Premium Table Water 75cl was produced between 22nd and 23rd May, 2019.

“Eva Premium Table Water 75cl produced by Nigerian Bottling Company is registered by NAFDAC. The NAFDAC Registration Number is 01-0492.

“The production of Eva Premium Table Water 75cl at Nigerian Bottling Company Limited, Asejire, Ibadan, Oyo State has been suspended pending the outcome of investigation being conducted by the Agency.

“NAFDAC implores distributors, wholesalers and retailers to immediately stop the distribution & sale of the affected Eva Premium Table Water 75cl.

“They should return the stock of the affected product in their possession to Nigerian Bottling Company Ltd, Asejire, Ibadan, Oyo State,” the agency said.NAFDAC Orders NBC to Recall Eva Water in Market
