Abia to Integrate Farmers to Anchor Borrowers Scheme

By Modupe Gbadeyanka

The Abia State government says it will integrate all farmers who are interested into the Anchor Borrowers Programme (ABP) of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

Special Adviser to the Abia State Governor on Agriculture, Mr Israel Amanze, stated this in an interview with Radio Nigeria.

Mr Amanze further stated that the government would also empower the farmers with various incentives like fertiliser, funds, tractors as well as buying all farm produce to ease the stress of farmers looking for buyers for their products.

According to him, data collection of farmers was still on-going. From the registration, government would be able to deal directly with the real farmers to avoid portfolio farmers from hijacking the process of the exercise.

He pointed out that government would also ensure land preparation to make for maximum food production this year.
