Afriland Raises Unlisted Securities Bourse by 1.18%

The NASD Over-the-Counter (OTC) Securities Exchange appreciated on Thursday, October 14 by 1.18 per cent as a result of the growth posted by Afriland Properties Plc.

Shares of the company gained 11 kobo or 9.7 per cent to close the session at N1.14 per share in contrast to N1.03 per share of the preceding trading day.

This development as well as the injection of fresh funds into the unlisted securities bourse jerked up the market capitalisation of the exchange by N7.18 billion to N616.99 billion from N609.81 billion it closed on Wednesday.

In the same vein, the NASD Unlisted Security Index (NSI) went up by 8.69 points to wrap the session at 746.80 points compared with 738.11 points of the previous session.

During the day, the volume of securities traded by investors increased by 132.8 per cent to 765.5 million units from the previous trading day’s 328.8 million units.

Similarly, the value of shares transacted went up by 125.1 per cent to N382.7 million from the N169.9 million reported at the preceding session, while the number of deals carried out by the market participants went down by 54.6 per cent to 5 deals from the 11 deals executed a day earlier, according to data obtained from the bourse.

At the close of trades, Food Concepts Plc retained its position as the most traded stock by volume (year-to-date) with the sale of 11.4 billion units of its shares valued at N14.4 billion. Lighthouse Financial Services Plc stepped into second place with a turnover of 1.1 billion units valued at N546.1 million, while Geo Fluids Plc was in third place with 1.0 billion units worth N700 million.

Also, Food Concepts Plc maintained its top spot as the most active stock on the exchange by value on a year-to-date basis with the sale of 11.4 billion units of its securities valued at N14.4 billion. Nigerian Exchange (NGX) Group Plc trailed with the sale of 456.4 million units worth N9.2 billion, while VFD Group Plc was third with 10.4 million units valued at N3.5 billion.
