Aradel Holdings Sinks OTC Equity Market by 1.2%

A drop in the stock price of high-flying Aradel Holdings Plc triggered a 1.2 per cent loss at the NASD Over-the-Counter (OTC) Securities Exchange on Thursday, February 8.

The energy firm lost N85.50 during the session to trade at N2,114.50 per share compared with the previous day’s N2,200.00 per share, suppressing the gains posted by UBN Property Plc and Industrial and General Insurance (IGI) Plc.

UBN Property Plc appreciated by 3 Kobo to sell at N1.75 per unit versus the previous session’s N1.72 per unit and IGI Plc jumped by 2 Kobo to end at 24 Kobo per share compared with Wednesday’s closing price of 22 Kobo per share.

When the market closed for the session, the value of the OTC equity market declined by N18.13 billion to N1.486 trillion from the midweek’s N1.504 trillion, as the NASD Unlisted Security Index (NSI) depreciated by 13.37 points to end the day at 1,096.78 points as against 1,110.15 points of the previous session.

There was a jump in the volume of securities traded at the session by 540.0 per cent to 1.3 million units from 200,715 units, there was a 16,257.5 per cent surge in the value of shares transacted to N474.8 million from N117.6 million, and the number of deals increased by 6.7 per cent to 16 deals from 15 deals.

At the close of transactions, IPWA Plc closed as the most traded stock by volume on a year-to-date basis with the sale of 48.9 million units valued at N24.4 million, followed by UBN Property Plc with 37.2 million units worth N64.9 million, and Geo-Fluids stood in third place with 30.1 million units valued at N73.7 million.

The most traded stock by value on a year-to-date basis remained Aradel Holdings Plc, which has transacted 764,643 units worth N1.3 billion, trailed by FrieslandCampina Wamco Nigeria Plc with a turnover of 2.5 million units valued at N195.2 million, and Geo-Fluids Plc with 30.1 million units sold for N73.7 million.
