Reports reaching us have it that Etisalat Nigeria has finally dropped its name to pick a new identity called 9Mobile.

The company reportedly adopted this new name at a meeting held in Lagos on Thursday involving management of the fourth largest telecom firm in the country.

The name Etisalat Nigeria was dropped after its parent company, Etisalat Group, pulled out of the firm after talks on loan repayment stalled.

It was reported few days ago that the parent company based in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) gave management of Etisalat Nigeria to stop using its brand in Nigeria.

Details later.
