Foremost Human Rights lawyer, Mr Festus Keyamo, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), has been nominated by President Muhammadu Buhari, for a position in the board of Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC).
Mr Keyamo, who was named last month as spokesman of Mr Buhari’s 2019 Campaign Organisation, was nominated for a place in the NDIC alongside six others.
President Buhari, before traveling to the United Kingdom for a four-day medical trip today, wrote to the Senate, seeking their confirmation of Mr Keyamo and the six others as chairman and members of the agency.
In the letter read at the red chamber by the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, on Tuesday, Mr Buhari said, “In compliance with section 5 (4) of the Nigerian Deposit Insurance Act 2006, it is my pleasure to forward to distinguished senate the under listed nominees for confirmation as chairman and members of Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation. Their CVs are attached.”
“It is my hope distinguished senate will consider and confirm the nominees in the usual expeditious manner.
“Please accept Mr Senate President, the assurances of my highest consideration,” Mr Buhari wrote in the letter.
The President listed the nominees as Olabode Mustapha (Chairman, Ogun State), Garba Buba (Member, Bauchi State), Bello Garba (Member, Sokoto State), Joseph Okalogu (Member, Enugu State), Mustapha Mudashiru (Member, Kwara State), Festus Keyamo (Member, Delta) and Adewale Adeleke (Member, Ondo State).
