FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria Plc lifted the NASD Over-the-Counter (OTC) Securities Exchange up by 0.86 per cent on Thursday, November 12, inviting the bulls back to the unlisted securities bourse.
The milk-producing company ended the session with its equities gaining N4.64 or 3.4 per cent to close at N140 per share compared with N135.36 per share it sold at the previous day.
As a result, the NASD Unlisted Security Index (NSI) jumped by 0.86 per cent or 6.16 points to settle at 725.56 points in contrast to the 719.40 points it finished at the midweek trading session.
With the appreciation recorded at the market, the total value of stocks on the alternative bourse in Nigeria went up by N4.53 billion to N532.97 billion as against N528.44 billion of the prior day.
Despite the rise in the general outcome of the market, Thursday’s activity chart revealed that there was a slide in the number of securities exchanged by investors as they bought and sold 7,202 units of stocks, 90.8 per cent lower than the 78,453 units traded previously.
Also, the value of securities traded by market participants amounted to N1.0 million, lower than the N24.9 million realised at the previous session by 95.9 per cent.
However, the number of deals was flat at two and the deals were executed on FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria Plc.
At the close of business, ARM Life Plc was the most active stock by volume (year-to-date) traded with 7.4 billion units of its shares worth N4.6 billion. Central Securities Clearing Systems (CSCS) Plc was in second place with 203.5 million units worth N2.7 billion, while Food Concept Plc held the third position with 128.1 million units of its shares worth N90.5 million.
Equally, ARM Life Plc also remained as the highest traded stock by value since the current trading year with 7.4 billion units of securities traded for N4.6 billion. Niger Delta Exploration and Production (NDEP) Plc came next with 10.9 million units of its securities valued at N3.5 billion, while CSCS Plc has transacted 203.5 million units valued at N2.7 billion.
