The 297th meeting of the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) will take place next Monday and Tuesday, a notice from the apex bank has disclosed.
The meeting is to discuss and reveal monetary policy direction for the country and this time, analysts are anticipating a rate cut due to the cooling of inflation rate in the last two months.
On Monday, the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) said inflation for August 2024 further eased by 32.15 per cent from 33.40 per cent in the preceding month.
At the gathering to be chaired by the Governor of the central bank, Mr Yemi Cardoso, the team will be expected to announce the benchmark interest rate, which was set at 26.75 per cent at the last MPC meeting.
“This is to inform you that the 297th meeting of the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) is scheduled to hold as indicated Day 1: Monday, September 23, 2024 Time: 10:00am, Day 2: Tuesday, September 24, 2024 Time: 8:00am, Venue: MPC Meeting Room, 11th Floor, CBN Headquarters, Abuja,” the statement from the CBN said.
