The NASD Over-the-Counter (OTC) Securities Exchange opened the week negative as it dropped 0.30 per cent on Monday, July 8 following losses recorded by the duo Central Securities Clearing System (CSCS) and FrieslandCampina Wamco Nigeria.
CSCS Plc dropped N1.00 to close at N19.50 per share compared with the previous trading day’s N20.50 per share, and FrieslandCampina lost 72 Kobo to finish at N50.00 per unit compared with last Friday’s N50.72 per unit.
However, Geo-Fluids Plc appreciated during the session by 4 Kobo to sell at N2.04 per share, in contrast to the preceding session’s closing price of N2.00 per share.
At the close of business, the market capitalisation of the bourse shed N6.24 billion to settle at N2.105 trillion versus the previous day’s N2.111 trillion, and the NASD Unlisted Security Index (NSI) recorded a decline of 4.55 points to end the day at 1,536.48 points as against 1,541.03 points it recorded at the previous session.
The volume of securities traded at the bourse yesterday witnessed a surge of 1,174.8 per cent as investors exchanged 5.0 million units of shares versus the 394,054 units of shares traded in the previous trading day.
However, the value of shares transacted by the market participants went down by 81.3 per cent to N54.5 million from the N291.4 million achieved in the preceding trading session.
These transactions were carried out in 13 deals compared with the 34 deals carried out last Friday, representing a decline of 61.8 per cent.
Aradel Holdings Plc ended as the most traded stock by value (year-to-date) with a turnover of 6.6 million units valued at N18.1 billion, followed by CSCS Plc with 101.7 million units sold for N2.5 billion, and Capital Hotels Plc with 259.6 million worth N1.3 billion.
Capital Hotels Plc finished the day as the most active stock by volume (year-to-date) with 259.6 million worth N1.3 billion, trailed by Industrial and General Insurance (IGI) Plc with the sale of 218.8 million units for N46.1 million, and Mixta Real Estate Plc with 139.8 million units sold for N240.1 million.
