Daba Finance, Coronation to Expand Global Access to Nigeria’s Capital Market

Daba Markets Inc., operator of Daba Finance, has entered into a strategic distribution arrangement with Coronation Securities Limited and Coronation Asset Management Limited to expand eligible international investors’ access to Nigeria’s capital market.

In a statement on Monday, the companies said the move would combine market intelligence, investor education and digital access to connect investors globally with Nigerian capital-market opportunities.

Under the arrangement, Daba Finance will serve as Coronation’s corporate client through a trust structure, allowing eligible users of its platform to access Nigerian capital-market products made available by Coronation.

Daba Finance said its users would interact through its digital platform, while the underlying Nigerian capital-market services would be provided within Nigeria’s regulatory framework by Coronation’s Securities and Exchange Commission-registered businesses.

Through the arrangement, Daba Finance will feature Nigerian market news, data, analysis and research publications supported by Coronation’s research and market expertise.

The companies will also provide investor-education courses through Daba Academy and Coronation Investment Academy, alongside joint webinars designed to help investors understand Nigeria’s capital-market instruments, institutions, safeguards, opportunities and associated risks.

Eligible Daba Finance users will also be able to access Nigerian capital-market products made available by Coronation through the platform. The functionality includes digital onboarding, multi-currency funding, investment request and trade placement, as well as investment reporting.

Daba Finance said it would manage the user journey through its platform, while Coronation would provide the relevant Nigerian capital-market expertise and products under the corporate trust arrangement.

The chief executive of Daba Finance, Mr Boum III Jr, said the arrangement would help address challenges faced by diaspora investors and other international investors seeking exposure to African markets.

“Millions of Africans in the diaspora and investors around the world follow African markets closely but find it hard to participate from a distance because accessing credible information and navigating local market structures can be challenging,” he said.

According to him, the partnership would combine Coronation’s Nigerian market expertise with Daba’s technology and international reach, allowing eligible investors to learn about the market, understand investment opportunities and risks, and access relevant products digitally.

Daba Finance’s Chief Product Officer, Mr Anthony Miclet, said the partnership would integrate Coronation’s Nigerian market research, expertise and investment products into Daba’s digital platform.

“This arrangement integrates Coronation’s Nigerian market research, expertise and investment products into that experience, enabling eligible users to move from insight and education to informed participation through the Daba platform.”

On his part, the chief executive of Coronation Securities Limited, Mr Jibola Odedina, said increasing participation in Nigeria’s capital market required more than simply providing investment access.

He said credible market intelligence, investor confidence and a clear understanding of the investment environment were also necessary to attract a broader international investor base.
