Every Part of Nigeria Vital to our Financial System—Adeosun

By Dipo Olowookere
Minister of Finance, Mrs Kemi Adeosun, has emphasised the need for Nigeria to remain as an indivisible country, contrary to what some agitators want.
Mrs Adeosun, while reacting to statements credited to her alleging hate speech against the Igbos, said she can never speak ill against any part of the country.
A tweet had gone viral allegedly from the Minister’s verified Twitter page concerning how the Igbos will become insignificant to the Nigerian financial system by the end of 2023.
“I’m happy that Igbos are gradually becoming insignificant in Nigerian financial system and before the end of 2023, Igbos will be insignificant in the South East and Nigeria in general,” the post alleged to be from the Minister’s handle had read.
But reacting, Mrs Adeosun distanced herself from the above statement, saying every part of the country was important to the economy and the financial system of Nigeria.
She alleged that the post was photoshopped onto her Twitter page to make it look like it came from her.
“There’s a fake Twitter post circulating in my name, suggesting that I said something derogatory about Igbos. Kindly disregard it.
“It’s nothing but a shoddy attempt to photoshop a hateful statement onto my Twitter handle. I did not say or tweet any such thing. Thank you.
“Every part of Nigeria is important to our financial system & our Economy, and as a Govt, we will support ALL to achieve their full potential,” she tweeted.
