Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr Yakubu Dogara, has hinted that the Federal Government would soon pay at least N20 billion to each of the 36 states in the country for infrastructural development.
Mr Dogara made this known yesterday when he paid a courtesy visit to the Igwe of Ogwuekpele, His Royal Highness Igwe Valentine B.C. Onyema Ogidiga.
A statement issued by the Speaker’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mr Iliya Habila, revealed that Mr Dogara informed his host that the FG was planning to invest in infrastructure and provision of capital.
The traditional ruler had expressed concerns on dilapidating infrastructure in Anambra State, but the Speaker assured him of government’s readiness to tackle the issues.
“As regards debts being owed to states, I can announce that very soon no state will get less than N20 billion from the money that is coming.
“I believe they will be able to translate that money into development so that they could support the diversification policy of the Federal Government,” Mr Dogara was quoted in the statement to have said.
