Not less than 50 unemployed graduates in Nasarawa State are undergoing training in career development and entrepreneurship skills to contribute to national development.

The programme is on the bill of the Federal Ministry of Finance.

The participants would be trained in the area of agriculture, community health, construction and non-oil importing trades.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the training, Project Manager of Graduate Internship Scheme in the Ministry, Mr Dennis Chukwu, urged the interns to take maximum advantage of the initiative geared towards skills acquisition and career development.

Mr Chukwu, represented by Mrs Gyandu Esther from the Ministry, further disclosed that the special job creation programme had been developed for the non-oil sector and would last for three days.

“Thousands of graduates are still unemployed. We will continue to absorb the capacity of the scheme to absorb more graduates,” Mr Chukwu said.

“It is not all about putting in application for a job. I can actually sit in my home and create job,” one of the lecturers, Mrs Rachel Ajege, said.

Also speaking at the event, one of the participants, Mr Adams Usman, thanked the government for the initiative and called for its sustenance.
