The last trading day of the week at the NASD Over the Counter (OTC) Securities Exchange closed on Friday, September 27, 2019 with the key parameters pointing north.
This was reflected in the rise in the market capitalisation yesterday by 0.14 percent or N720 million to close at N506.60 billion from N505.88 billion. This was in contrast to the flattish closure on Thursday.
Following the same pattern was the NASD Security Index (NSI), which also appreciated by 0.14 percent or 0.99 points on Friday to 705.14 points from 704.15 points at the previous session, when it finished flat too.
However, the volume of trade tumbled by 93.23 percent or 7,458,381 units to 541,819 units from 8,000,200 units transacted a day earlier, but the the total value of transactions recorded by investors recorded a huge boom.
Business Post reports that at the market on Friday, investors exchanged shares valued at N146.8 million compared with the N4 million transacted the previous session, representing a growth by 3,569.87 percent or 142.8 million.
Also, the total number of deals increased on Friday when compared with the number recorded on Thursday. A total of 14 deals were executed on Friday, higher than the 2 deals executed on Thursday, indicating a 600 percent rise.
Afriland Properties Plc saw its shares gaining at the market on Friday, going up by 3 kobo to settle at N2.16 per share compared with N2.13 per share it traded before Friday.
Also, Friesland Campina Wamco Plc gained on Friday as it shares went up by 69 Kobo as it went from N128.10 to close at N128.79 at the end of the day’s transactions.
Meanwhile, Food Concept Plc remained at the top of trades by volume (year to date) chart with transactions of 1,158,797,004 units valued at N843.97 billion, while UBN Properties followed with 891,085,220 units worth N1.21 billion.
Central Securities Clearing System (CSCS) Plc in terms of value (year-to-date) took the top position with 202,272,698 units worth N2.53 billion transacted, while UBN Properties followed with 884,529,600 units of its stocks sold for N1.2 billion.
