It was an unlucky session for investors at the NASD Over-the-Counter (OTC) Securities Exchange as the unlisted securities market fell by 0.78 per cent on Wednesday, August 11.
The duo of FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria Plc and Central Securities Clearing Systems (CSCS) Plc surrender the NASD Exchange to the bears yesterday as they recorded negative price movements, failing to sustain the bullish trend of the previous session.
FrieslandPlc ended the session at N127 per share after its share price dropped N4.95 or 4.1 per cent from the previous closing price of N122.05 per share.
On the part of the CSCS Plc, it lost 15 kobo or 0.9 per cent as it settled at N16.85 per unit compared with N17 per unit it ended a day earlier.
It was observed that Nigerian Exchange (NGX) Group Plc closed bullish yesterday by 26 kobo or 1.55 per cent as it traded at N17.02 per unit versus N16.76 per unit it traded at the preceding day.
However, the growth of NGX Group Plc could not save the market capitalisation of the exchange from depleting by N5.07 billion to N648.03 billion from N653.10 billion.
The stock could also not stop the NASD Unlisted Security Index (NSI) from losing 5.84 points to wrap the session at 745.57 points compared with 751.41 points recorded at the previous session.
During the midweek trading session, the number of shares transacted by investors declined by 94.2 per cent to 1.8 million units from 31.3 million units of the preceding session.
Also, the value of the trades went down by 70.6 per cent to N37.6 million from N127.5 million, while the number of deals depreciated by 32.3 per cent to 21 deals from 31 deals executed on Tuesday.
At the close of business, Geo Fluids Plc was the most active stock by volume (year-to-date) with 1.0 billion units of its shares worth N700.1 million. NGX Group Plc Plc has traded 386.9 million units valued at N8.1 billion, while Food Concepts Plc has exchanged 294.5 million units worth N385.5 million.
But in terms of value (year-to-date), NGX Group Plc was the most active at the close of transactions on Wednesday with 386.9 million units worth N8.1 billion. VFD Group Plc trailed with 6.2 million units worth N2.0 billion, while Niger Delta Exploration and Production (NDEP) Plc has traded 3.3 million units for N1.0 billion.
