Friesland Lifts Unlisted OTC Bourse by 0.08%

Activities resumed on the floor of the NASD Over-the-Counter (OTC) on Wednesday after the Eid Mubarak break and the bourse closed higher by 0.08 per cent on the back of a good performance from FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria Plc.

The milk-producing company closed at N94.89 per share compared with the previous closing price of N94.15 per share, representing a price appreciation of 74 kobo or 0.8 per cent.

This lifted the market capitalisation of the unlisted OTC bourse by N720 million to N912.45 billion from N911.73 billion and expanded the NASD Unlisted Securities Index (NSI) by 0.55 points to 693.94 points from 693.39 points.

During the session, investors transacted shares worth N165.5 million compared with the N1.4 million transacted last Friday, indicating a 12,193.5 per cent increase.

In the same vein, the volume of securities traded by the market participants stood at 1.7 million units, 6,042.4 per cent higher than the 28,350 units traded in the preceding session.

These transactions were carried out in 14 deals compared with the six deals executed at the last session, indicating a 133.3 per cent rise.

When the market closed for the day, AG Mortgage Plc was the most traded stock by volume on a year-to-date basis with the sale of 2.3 billion units valued at N1.2 billion, Central Securities Clearing System (CSCS) Plc stood in second place with the sale of 661.2 million units worth N13.9 billion, while NASD Plc was in third place with the sale of 69.0 million units valued at N56.0 million.

On the flip side, CSCS Plc finished the session as the most traded stock by value on a year-to-date basis with a turnover of 661.2 million units exchanged for N13.9 billion, AG Mortgage Plc was in second place with a turnover of 2.3 billion units valued at N1.2 billion, while Friesland was in third place with a turnover of 7.6 million units worth N1.0 billion.
