Friesland, NASD Plc Spur Unlisted Securities Market’s 1.83% Leap

The NASD Over-the-Counter (OTC) jumped by 1.83 per cent on Friday, March 25 on the back of gains posted by the duo of FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria Plc and  NASD Plc.

The milk maker appreciated by N10.40 or 8.4 per cent yesterday to trade at N124.50 per share compared with Thursday’s value of N114.10 per share, while NASD Plc improved its equity price by N1.25 or 9.0 per cent to settle at N13.84 per unit in contrast to the preceding session’s N12.59 per unit.

As a result of the growth posted by the two stocks, the total value of securities on the trading platform increased by N10.71 billion on Friday to N597.13 billion from N586.42 billion it closed on Thursday.

In the same vein, the NASD Unlisted Securities Index (NSI) went up by 12.97 points at the close of business to 723.12 points from the previous day’s 710.15 points.

Business Post reports that the activity level was better yesterday as the volume of securities traded by investors at the bourse rose by 31.1 per cent to 5.3 million units from the preceding day’s 4.0 million units, while the value of transactions increased by 1,711.1 per cent to N75.2 million from N4.2 million, with the number of deals appreciating by 66.7 per cent to 10 deals from the six deals executed on Thursday.

At the close of trades, AG Mortgage Plc was the most traded stock by volume on a year-to-date basis with the sale of 2.3 billion units valued at N1.2 billion, Central Securities Clearing System (CSCS) Plc has transacted 658.8 million units worth N13.8 billion to occupy the second spot, while the third spot occupier, NASD Plc, has exchanged 41.7 million units valued at N444.2 million.

On the flip side, CSCS Plc ended the trading session as the most active stock by value on a year-to-date basis with a turnover of 658.8 million units exchanged at N13.8 billion, AG Mortgage Plc was in second place with 2.3 billion units worth N1.2 billion, while NASD Plc was in third place with 41.7 million units valued at N444.2 million.
