FrieslandCampina Influences NASD OTC Exchange’s 0.62% Growth

FrieslandCampina Wamco Nigeria Plc helped the NASD Over-the-Counter (OTC) Securities Exchange record a 0.62 per cent gain on Tuesday, October 17 despite the waning interest in unlisted stocks by investors.

During the session, the volume of securities traded at the bourse went down by 91.0 per cent to 1.2 million units from the 13.8 million units transacted on Monday.

Also, the value of shares traded yesterday tanked by 76.3 per cent to N26.97 million from the N113.9 million achieved a day earlier, and the number of deals depreciated by 10.5 per cent to 17 deals from the 19 deals recorded in the preceding trading session.

Central Securities Clearing System (CSCS) Plc closed the trading day as the most traded stock by volume (year-to-date) with the sale of 1.2 billion units for N22.3 billion, UBN Property Plc was in second place with 952.8 million units valued at N950.8 million, and Geo-Fluids Plc was in third place with 679.7 units worth N1.3 billion.

The most traded stock by value (year-to-date) remained CSCS Plc with a turnover of 1.2 billion units valued at N22.3 billion, VFD Group retained the second spot despite exiting the platform with the sale of 26.6 million units for N5.9 billion, and Aradel Holdings Plc was in third place with 6.9 million units valued at N2.6 billion.

FrieslandCampina Wamco was the sole price gainer on Tuesday, offsetting the losses posted by three other securities after it added N4.50 to its share price to settle at N76.50 per unit versus Monday’s closing price of N72.00 per unit.

11 Plc lost 63 Kobo to trade at N135.00 per share compared with the previous day’s N135.63 per share, Geo-Fluids depreciated by 30 Kobo to close at N2.70 per unit versus N3.00 per unit, and CSCS crashed by 9 Kobo to N20.00 per unit from N20.09 per unit.

At the close of business, the value of the unlisted securities market grew by N6.84 billion to N1.115 trillion from N1.107 trillion and the NASD Unlisted Security Index (NSI) gained 5.04 points to end the day at 822.32 points as against the 817.28 points it recorded at the previous session.
