FrieslandCampina Lifts NASD OTC 0.6% Monday

The first trading of the week closed positive at the NASD Over-the-Counter (OTC) Securities Exchange on Monday, January 18 with a 0.6 per cent growth.

This stimulated the bourse’s market capitalization to a N3.17 billion gain to close at N534.16 billion compared with the N530.99 billion it ended the previous trading session.

In the same outcome, it pushed the NASD Unlisted Security Index (NSI) higher by 4.42 points to close at 744.46 points as against 740.04 points it ended last Friday.

The market environment was lifted by the price appreciation in the stocks of FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria Plc, which added N3.25 to its value to close at N135 per share as against the previous N131.75 per share.

The total volume of trade transacted at the opening session rose by 208.6 per cent as a total of 10.0 million units of shares were traded compared to 3.2 million units of securities recorded at the preceding session.

These came from two deals that were executed at the session from the day’s only gainer, FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria Plc and UBN Property Plc.

The day’s market summary showed that the deals were worth N10.8 million in contrast to N11.2 million worth of stocks transacted at the previous session, indicating a 4.1 per cent drop.

Business Post reports that there was no price loser at the market yesterday.

UBN Property Plc closed the session as the company with the most traded stock by volume (year-to-date) with 14.8 million units worth N15.9 million. Niger Delta Exploration and Production (NDEP) Plc was in second place with 205,650 units worth N71.9 million, while FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria Plc held the third position with 109,900 units of its shares worth N14.6 million.

In terms of the most active stock by value (year-to-date), NDEP Plc topped the activity chart with 205,650 units of its shares traded for N71.9 million. UBN Property Plc followed with 14.8 million units exchanged for N15.9 million, while FrieslandCampina Plc was in third place with 109,900 units of its securities valued at N14.6 million.
