FrieslandCampina Lifts NASD OTC Exchange by 0.16%

The NASD Over-the-Counter (OTC) Securities Exchange recorded its first gain for the week on Thursday, appreciating by 0.16 per cent.

This marginal growth was influenced by FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria Plc, which recorded a positive price movement, gaining 81 kobo or 0.7 per cent to settle at N122 per share compared with N121.19 per share it traded on Wednesday.

This expanded the market capitalisation of the bourse by N790 million to close at N513.11 billion as against the N512.32 billion it finished the previous session.

Equally, the NASD Unlisted Security Index (NSI) rose by 1.11 points to end the day at 715.12 points compared with 714.01 points it recorded at the midweek session.

During the session, the number of shares traded by market participants depreciated on Thursday by 98.1 per cent to 20,092 units from 1.04 million units transacted on Wednesday.

In the same vein, there was a drop in the value of shares traded yesterday by 87.3 per cent to N2.5 million from N19.7 million achieved a day before.

These trades came from 10 deals executed on the day’s single gainer, FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria Plc, 11.1 per cent higher than the nine deals executed by investors at the previous session.

UBN Property Plc closed the session as the company with the highest trading volume (year-to-date) with the sale of 15.1 million units of its shares worth N16.3 million. It was trailed by CSCS Plc with 2.4 million units of its securities valued at N37.0 million and FrieslandCampina with 1.9 million units valued at N229.6 million.

Also, FrieslandCampina remained as the company with the highest trading value (year-to-date) with 1.9 million units of its shares worth N229.6 million. NDEP Plc was in second place with 279,756 units worth N96.8 million, while CSCS Plc held the third position with 2.4 million units of its shares worth N37.0 million.
