FrieslandCampina Triggers 0.07% Growth at NASD OTC Exchange

The NASD Over-the-Counter (OTC) Securities Exchange returned to the green territory on Wednesday after it pulled a 0.07 per cent appreciation on the back of a positive price movement from FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria Plc.

FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria Plc closed the day with a N1.80 gain to settle at N67.00 per unit compared with the preceding day’s price of N65.20 per unit.

It offset the losses posted by the trio of Niger Delta Exploration and Production (NDEP) Plc, Central Securities Clearing Systems (CSCS) Plc, and UBN Property Plc.

Data obtained by Business Post showed that NDEP lost N4 to close at N171.00 per share, in contrast to Tuesday’s price of N175.00 per share, CSCS dropped 40 Kobo to trade at N13.10 per share versus the previous day’s N13.50, and UBN Property depreciated by 2 Kobo to end the day at 71 Kobo per unit versus the 73 Kobo per unit it was traded a day earlier.

The increase in the share price of FrieslandCampina yesterday expanded the market capitalisation of the NASD OTC exchange by N680 million to N929.61 billion from N928.93 billion and raised the NASD Unlisted Securities Index (NSI) higher by 0.52 points to 707.46 points from 706.94 points.

At the bourse on Wednesday, the volume of securities increased by 1,856.9 per cent to 1.9 million units from 98,792 units, the value, however, decreased by 22.4 per cent to N8.1 million from N10.4 million, while the number of deals rose by 72.2 per cent to 31 deals from 18 deals.

UBN Property Plc closed the day as the most active stock (year-to-date) for transacting 6.2 million units worth N4.5 million,  FrieslandCampina Wamco Nigeria Plc stood in second place for trading 508,506 units worth N33.9 million, while VFD Group Plc was in third place for selling 417,492 units valued at N101.9 million.

The most traded stock by value (year-to-date) was VFD Group Plc with the sale of 417,492 units worth N101.9 million, FrieslandCampina Wamco Nigeria Plc was in second place with 508,506 units valued at N33.9 million, and NDEP Plc was in third place with 51,000 units valued at N9.1 million.
