Kaduna State Governor, Mr Nasir El-Rufai, has commended Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Mr Maikanti Baru, for his leadership style, saying the corporation was now on the right track.

Mr El-Rufai gave this commendation when Mr Baru paid him a courtesy visit in Kaduna recently.

He described the NNPC boss as a man of quality and integrity, saying his appointment was well deserved.

He said under Mr Baru’s watch, NNPC has continued to show good results, noting that the corporation remains the most important Federal Government institution which everyone feels part of through its impact on the economy.

“I have not been impressed with the NNPC in the past, and that is because of the then political leadership which used the corporation as a conduit but with Dr Baru at the helm, I believe NNPC is on the right track,” the Governor said.

The NNPC boss, while speaking during the visit, called for collaborative strategy with the state government in the protection of Kaduna Refining and Petrochemical Company (KRPC), pipelines, NNPC Retail outlets and the personnel.

He noted that the corporation would double its efforts in the area of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), stressing that the Youth Empowerment and Skills Acquisition Programme (YESAP) of KRPC has successfully trained no fewer than 900 youths in the state.
