Investors at NASD OTC Exchange Lose N3.4 billion in Week 7

Investors at the NASD Over-the-Counter (OTC) Securities Exchange lost N3.4 billion in the seventh trading week of 2022, causing the market capitalisation to close at N618.66 billion compared with N622.06 billion it closed in the preceding week.

In the same vein, the NASD Securities Index (NSI) decreased by 0.55 per cent or 4.01 points to close the week at 730.61 points as against 734.62 points it ended in week 6.

Business Post reports that Niger Delta Exploration and Production (NDEP) Plc lost 10.00 per cent in the week to settle at N206.10 per unit versus N229.00 per unit it closed a week earlier, while Air Liquide Plc fell by 10.00 per cent to finish at N4.95 per share compared with N5.50 per share of the preceding week.

In the week, NASD Plc was the highest price gainer, rising by 6 per cent to N9.01 per share from the previous close of N8.50 per cent, while Friesland Campina Wamco Nigeria Plc appreciated by 0.5 per cent to trade at N122.15 per share compared with the previous close of N121.50 per share.

Despite the loss, the level of activity increased as the total value of trades rose by 355.6 per cent to N179.6 million from the previous week’s N39.4 million, the total volume of transactions increased by 310.8 per cent to 17.8 million units from 4.3 million units of the previous week, while the number of deals decreased by 33.9 per cent to 45 deals from 66 deals of the preceding week.

At the close of the week, NASD Plc was the most traded security by volume with 15.2 million units. Central Securities Clearing Systems (CSCS) Plc traded 1.5 million units, Food Concepts Plc exchanged 1.0 million units, FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria Plc traded 103,279 units while NDEP) Plc sold 29,833 units.

In terms of the value of trades in the week, NASD Plc also topped with N132.9 million, CSCS Plc recorded N26.6 million, Friesland Campina WAMCO Nigeria Plc traded N12.7 million, NDEP Plc posted N6.2 million, while Food Concepts Plc had N810,000.

In the year so far, the NSI has lost 1.7 per cent, while investors have transacted a total of 686.6 million units of stocks worth N14.7 billion in 381 deals.
